Holiday Fruit Cake

Even if you are not a fruitcake lover, I'm pretty sure your bird will love this wonderful holiday fruit cake with loads of fruity goodness.

Ingredients:

1 package Bird Bread such as Harrison's or TOP's Bread (Click Here for a selection of Bird Breads you can use)
One 6 ounce package Zupreem Tropical Rewards Fruit Mix
2 large eggs
1 small size bag of fresh cranberries
2 tablespoons Feather-Glo Organic Palm Oil or olive oil
2 cups water

In large mixing bowl pour in Bird Bread mix and add the 2 eggs and 2 tablespoons of Palm Oil (or olive oil if you do not have Palm Oil), and mix these ingredients well.

Add the bag of the fruit mix and stir to mix all ingredients together.

Rinse fresh cranberries well, and then add cranberries to the mixture and stir.

Now add 2 cups of water to the mixture and mix thoroughly.

Lightly spray round aluminum or other cake or bundt pan (or any shape pan you prefer)   NOTE: DO NOT USE ANY COOKING PAN WITH TEFLON OR OTHER PTFE COATING

Pour mixture into one large pan or divide evenly between two round cake pans.  Then smooth top of mixture with a spoon.

Bake in a 350-degree oven for approximately 50 minutes. Ovens vary in cooking time, so check with toothpick or butter knife that inserts and removes cleanly.

If using 2 round cake pans: Cool for approximately 10 minutes and then place a large plate on the top of each cake before removing from pan. Gently flip cake pan and plate upside down, gently tapping the bottom of the pan to help cake slide out onto the plate.  Continue then to layer the 2 round cakes before decorating.

If using a bundt cake pan you can also use the plate method before removing and decorating  If using a single layer sheet cake pan, you will need to place the serving tray on top and flip to transfer the cooked cake onto the serving dish.

Now you are ready to serve and watch your bird thoroughly enjoy all the holiday yummy goodness.

Cake can also be frozen in small serving sizes that can be thawed out as needed for feeding portions to your bird.

NOTE: the holiday decorations of Christmas ornaments, berries and holly leaves shown in the picture above with the fruitcake, were for decoration only, and should be removed before serving the fruitcake to your bird.
