BIRDS LOVE PIZZA TOO !
February 9, 2024 is National Pizza Day and Pizza is not just for humans. Birds love Veggie Pizzas too. You just need to prepare it a little differently when creating pizza bites for birds.
You can easily start with a frozen pizza crust to bake, or a small ready-made whole wheat pizza crust, rice cake, or a large flour tortilla for the base of your pizza.
If you like you can begin your pizza layering with a very thin layer or several dabs of foods such as organic peanut butter, almond butter, (read ingredient lists on all butters you are considering using for only safe ingredients), maybe some sweet potato baby food or mixed vegetables baby food (found in small size jars in your local grocery store) to help hold all the food together on the crust, rice cake or tortilla.
Then begin layering any and all veggies and fruits your bird enjoys.
Add some of your bird's favorites such as minced or shredded carrots, broccoli, sweet potato, apple, cucumber slices, bell peppers (any color or combination of colors), chopped broccoli, cauliflower, or spinach, and so on.
I personally prefer not to use any cheese nor meats as some birds are not able to digest easily, and remember no onions, avocados, or chocolate for your bird's pizza.
Place your pizza creation on a non-stick non-teflon cookie sheet and bake in 350-degree oven for about 15 minutes to soften veggies. (If you are using frozen raw pizza dough crust, bake per directions on package)
Cool before serving to your bird. Cut into small squares or slices for your bird to enjoy. If you are serving a pizza with a base that does not require any cooking time, just cut to size and serve up the good stuff.
